Are you an Elvis freak? Do you feel caught in a trap out of which you can’t walk out? A trap of searching for all things Elvis? You are not alone. Some people will have suspicious minds about your addiction to Elvis memorabilia, but others will empathize. And by those others, I mean the millions of Elvis collectors all over the globe. For years anything remotely to do with Elvis has been hugely popular. Today, Elvis collectibles are just as popular as they ever were.
Memorabilia options are extremely numerous. You can get things that are cute, funny and of course very expensive. At a 2009 auction consisting of items from Elvis’ personal stuff, a 14K gold ring with diamonds and the face of an owl sold for $40,000. Also sold to the highest bidder was a blue and gold jumpsuit with cape which Elvis had worn in a 1972 Madison Square Garden concert. This item was bid up to $210,000.
Not all pieces of Elvis history are so overwhelming to the pocketbook. Savvy shopping on online auction and retail sites, careful sifting through yard and garage sale items and another visit to that cluttered and dusty attic of yours all just might result in an impressive haul.
Two hugely popular pieces of memorabilia are autographs and records. An authentic Elvis signature on a record cover, magazine article or poster is often quite valuable and is difficult to get outside of an auction. Since there are so many Elvis recordings, collecting 45 records and albums can seem endless. A lot of folks like to hang their Elvis records or otherwise display them rather than actually play them.
If you find yourself in a cold Kentucky rain, there is no need to worry. Elvis Presley memorabilia will keep you warm. There are numerous blankets, quilts, sheet sets and throws featuring pictures of The King. Any shape, size or color you can think of is available. And often they come in their own storage tins. And what good are sheets and blankets without pillows? Won’t the rest of the passengers on the train be jealous when they see you resting comfortably on your Elvis neck pillow?
Perhaps you have a child who carries the torch for the latest generation of Elvis fans. Well, what kid wouldn’t be in seventh heaven if given an official Elvis lunchbox? For true devotees, you can get the pink “Love Me Tender” model with a matching thermos. After school, why not let your son or daughter invite his or her friends over for a spirited game of Elvisopoly?
If you are having problems rounding out your collection of all things Elvis, then perhaps a close look at non-traditional items is in order. One thing worth a look is the ceiling fan pull figurine. One quick yank on Elvis and voila your room will be as cool as he is. And why not wake up to Elvis? Alarm clocks with his image on the dial face are readily available. For the more discerning fan, you can purchase an upscale pendulum clock with Elvis’ legs acting as the pendulums.
There is nothing wrong with a healthy desire for an Elvis collection. I say give me a little less conversation and go out and get yourself some nice pieces to add to what you already have. Elvis Presley was and is a musical icon who will continue to be loved for years to come.

Sports memorabilia items can be very valuable to collectors, and therefore are very cherished to these people. Collectors can be found all around the world, and their collections are more than just cards or photos, usually costing a lot. These are some tips on how to buy authentic sports memorabilia items.
One way to buy sports memorabilia items is to purchase them online from stores. This can be beneficial because you save time while shopping and you can also compare prices conveniently. The other benefit to this process is that all of the information needed for the product is listed right there and there is no skepticism as to what kind of product you are buying.
Your sports souvenir must be bought from a trusted business whether purchasing online or offline. To good to be true prices should alert you that the relic may be bogus or the deal is a sham.
A yellow hue and tears on the border of a picture are not acceptable when purchasing a sports signed picture. They have lost their value.
Sports autographed cards and photos should not have a crease, fold or line in the centre, because the value of such items is almost negligible. No dealer buys such damaged times so the resale value would be almost nothing.
If you are buying larger items such as a baseball or a bat then you should make sure the item does not have scratches or dents either. When buying a photo or card, make sure it is in good shape and more preferably has a protective cover like lamination, plastic, or acrylic boxes.
If you are buying a jersey or a shirt, you should see that it is in “mint condition”. In other words, it does not have defects like holes, stains or tears.
Before buying any sports memorabilia, please make sure that the seller is asking for the right price for the item, and you may need to do a little market research for that. Of course, the price also depends on the age of the item and its condition. Researching the teams and the player’s history will make you aware of the items true worth.

Over the years the Kentucky Derby has proven to be one of the most memorable horse racing events of the year. Because of it’s immense success, companies have manufactured commemorative glasses to celebrate all that is good about this annual event. These are truly collectible.
Going back to as early as 1938 these commemorative glasses have been made with all the love and attention they deserve.
Every year the glass would feature something unique and original about that race.
During the first world war when shortages were noticed, a replacement product called Bakelite had to be used, which is a form of plastic from 1941 through to 1945.
Some of the rarest glasses are from 1950 and 1951 so if you ever manage to get your hands on a good conditioned one from either of those years you will be in for a very good time.
Back in 1974 manufacturers industry wide mistakenly spelled a horses name as just Canonero when it was in fact Canonero II. Over 450,000 of these glasses were incorrectly made.
Federal glasses, Libby glasses and an unnamed manufacturer each produced hundreds of thousands of these glasses. Each of the 2 different types. One with Canonero and one with Canonero II.
The named horse Canonero II was in fact the 1971 race winner and yet the ironic thing is it went unnoticed for a while. Unbelievable.
The Libby company in the end had to go and borrow glasses from the Federal company in order to meet it’s order books.
Ironically this hs proven to be a success for the manufacturers as collectors have deemed that both versions are just as collectible as one another.
But when you put it down to value, the Federal designed glasses tend to retain a higher value than the others.
With limited edition glasses, like the modern day gold edition ones, only 1000 would be made.
These limited run glasses would come with certificates of authenticity and would increase in value due to this. Ultimately the glasses would exchange ownership for as much as $60 and more.
If you enjoy rare collectible glasses then you will not go wrong if you invest in a good condition Kentucky glass.
Nearly all of the glasses hold a good value, but the ones which go up in value are the ones which are associated with a memorable years race.
As a lover of Kentucky glasses always keep your eyes open for anything related to this fascinating world.

We are all constantly trying to reduce the amount of clutter in our homes. The only way to do this is to make sure that everything is dealt with and cycled out when we no longer have need of it. For many, many people, paper is a problem. We get so much mail that it is difficult to even sort through it fast enough to keep it from cluttering the house. If you have subscriptions to even one publication, chances are that you have back issues of magazines lying around.
With other paper messes, we have an easier time getting rid of them. Paper shredders work wonders on bills and junk mail, turning them into easily discarded or recycled pulp. But magazines are heavier, more durable, more like books. You can’t just put them through a shredder, and throwing them out seems wrong. Instead they just sit, not being read and taking up valuable space.
Here are some things you can do to help get rid of them:
Find a place that can recycle them. Recycling is an extremely important practice. If you city does not provide curbside recycling for paper materials, there may be a recycling center nearby that would take your old magazines. Look into this as an alternative to throwing them away.
As local schools or churches if they have any use for them. Magazines can be used as materials for art projects, and oftentimes these materials are difficult to come by.
You can use them for art projects yourself, in your own home, also. If you have children, nieces and nephews, or neighbor kids, making collages is a great way to entertain them. It can also be a meditative outlet for you. Making a collage is easy and fun. First, look through the magazine and cut out the shapes or pictures that stand out the most. You could pick a certain theme, a certain color, or just choose them randomly. If you have old family photos lying around, use those as well. You can go for a particular design, or just arrange them abstractly. Regular glue works, or you could try decoupaging. Collages look wonderful in a frame. If they turn out especially well, you could give them as gifts.
It is also worth checking to find out whether your magazines could be collectors’ items, especially if they are older. You might be able to sell them online. You would need to find the right website through which to sell, and do some research on shipping, but you might find that not only could you get rid of your old magazines, you could make a little money in the process.
If you find that the magazines are collectors’ items but you do not want to sell them, you could consider donating them to a library or a trying to find a vintage shop or used bookstore that would take them.
Explore all of these options in lieu of simply throwing your magazines away. There is enough garbage created as it is. If we can find more creative uses for things, and ultimately reuse or recycle them, we help our environment and create less waste.

If you ever take a look at making soy candles, you will find that you wish to take it up yourself. A large amount of folks make their own candles, but there were some concerns over burning the paraffin wax. So that the alternative choice to that’s to use soy wax, which basically will burn as much as 30% longer than paraffin wax. Candles make wonderful vacation gifts, and can set a nice warm tone in any darkened room.
If you make a decision to make your own candles, then you’ll have one or two different styles to pick from. Your most basic three are the container, the molded, and your pillar style of candle. With the moulded, you only need to find a good mold, kind of like a mildew use for making candy, in whatever shape that you’d like your candles to turn out like. Then you simply melt your wax, and then pour it into the mildew where the wick should be waiting in place.
Making pillar candles is like molded candles, but your attention should be on your wick size. Too long of a wick causes the candle to melt too quickly and a small wick will lead it to tunnel. Starting from 3″ to 12″ high, they can be shaped all kinds of ways. They can be round, or square, or shaped in like an octagon. But you want a pillar mold to make them.
With the container candles, which are the best so far as learning to make your first candle, you don’t need a mold. You can make these with any sort of container you’ll be able to find, like old mason jars or even baby food jars. All you do with these is set your wick, then you melt your wax, and then decant the wax in and allow it to cool down. Simple and easy.
A great point about using soy wax is if it runs over or gets onto something, it cleans up quite simply with only water and soap. And it also melts very good within a microwave, which makes things even less complicated still. When making a candle, your perfume and your wax are its heart and soul. Perfume oil is straightforward to find, at any candle shop or many craft shops. But be certain they sell it to you by volume and not weight.
The dyes for coloring your candles Usually come in blocks, or chunks, of wax that is highly coloured. Sometimes your wax color will come in dye chips. The chips are about the size of a pill, and can be melted into your softened wax. You may also get dye in the liquid form. These dyes are highly concentrated, and it’ll only take four or 5 drops to make soy candles.
The next vital feature of soy candles, is the wick. The wick is vital because it determines how your candle is going to burn. As a rule, the dimensions of the wick you use is reliant upon the diameter of the container you mean to use. This is not chiseled in stone, but it is a good guideline for newbs. Tabbed wicks appear to work the best, since they already have the metal disc on the wick bottom.
Making your own soy candles can be a heap of fun, especially once you get the hang of it and can start to implement some of your own creativity into them. It’s a process that is straightforward to do and yields some terribly gratifying results. You can learn more than what was covered here by going online and researching it. There are masses of books to help you start too. Anyone can make their own soy candles if they just take the time to learn.
