Quick Mixed Drink Recipes For The Holidays

by Henesson Juliliu

Jazz up your holiday season with some cool mixed drink recipes. These will be a hit with every crowd and can also be altered to not use the alcohol if needed. They are great to make ahead of time or have the ingredients on hand for guests that stop by. You can have a fun season with a new drink that you and your guests will enjoy.

The Dirty Snowball: An easy drink to make with 3 parts cream, 2 parts Irish Liqueur and 1 part peppermint schnapps. Pour ice into an old fashioned glass and then pour in the ingredients. Add the creme last on top of the rest. You can add a fun swizzle stick or candy cane for an added touch. Sometimes you can find straws that look like candy canes which are very festive.

Candy Cane Lane: It’s not a game but a cool blended drink! You will need one ounce creme de cocoa, the same of peppermint schnapps and half n’ half. Add half a cup of vanilla ice cream and quarter cup of ice and blend away. Take a tall glass or a parfait glass and add grenadine for the candy cane look and pour in the blended mixture. Add whipped cream to the top and a candy cane to make it delicious.

Cool Yule Martini: Take three ounces of vodka, a half ounce of dry vermouth and one ounce of peppermint white liqueur. Shake the ingredients together and pour into a chilled martini glass. Top with a garnish of candy cane and a peppermint leaf.

The Old Fashioned Tom and Jerry: A classic rum drink enjoyed by many is a batter made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator. It’s great to have on hand for a party or people just stopping by. To make the batter you will need six eggs that you separate and beat separately. In the bowl with the stiff egg whites you add one and three quarter cups of sugar gradually and salt to taste with one teaspoon pure vanilla extract. Then you take one cup of powdered milk and slowly stir it in the mix. The cover and store.

Store the Tom and Jerry mix in the refrigerator covered. When you are ready to use you can mix one or two heaping tablespoons of the mix into a glass. Add hot water to fill the cup three quarters of the way full and then add about one ounce of rum. Some people like to add dark rum and a bit of brandy too, it is up to you. Mix together and then sprinkle a bit of nutmeg on top.

Your holidays can be more festive with some creative drinks. Plan ahead and have the ingredients on hand for last minute get togethers and celebrations. Always drink responsibly and have a wonderful holiday season.
