Key Considerations When Building A Website

Last but not least make a list of the ‘most wanted actions’ you want your website visitors to perform, and remember them when designing your site layout. If you want your visitors to complete a form you’ll need to make sure that the form or a link to it hits them in the face, so to speak on the first page they arrive on. If you want your visitors to go to a certain page once they arrive at your site, you’ll want to ensure that you have included a banner or icon that takes them to that page.

You should also think about the text width. This is known as the scan length and is the maximum amount of words displayed per line on the page. 7-11 words is a common amount. Any longer than this and it becomes difficult to read, any less and text looks disjointed. Keeping the text in line as you design your page is also important. Though it is tempting to centre all the text, this should be avoided. If all the text is centered it can be distracting to reader.
