Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland in men. An infection in the urinary tract is the main cause of prostatitis. It is easy to get prostatitis if you have been infected with E. coli bacteria. With prostatitis, there is the additional problem of urinary infections or blockage of the urinary tract.
Symptoms of acute prostatitis
Acute prostatitis is caused by an infection in the urinary tract. Usually, the infection spreads from the urethra. The infection is contracted through sexual intercourse or sharing of bathwater. It is related to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea or syphilis. Acute prostatitis symptoms include pain in the lower back, difficulty or pain in the genital area (abdomen, testicles, and penis); discomfort during ejaculation and urination, and dribbling when urinating . A severe case may result in fevers, chills, frequent urination (continually having the impulse to urinate) and even hematuria.
